I’ve been meaning to do it for a while now, but just recently got enough energy and motivation to wake up to take pictures of the Arizona sunrise.  The problem is, though, that Arizona doesn’t do daylight savings, so the sunrise is at 5:20, meaning that I needed to wake up at 3:30 to get to the location and setup well in advance.  Well, hopefully it all paid off.  Here are some of the better shots:

As I was driving back to Arizona from Utah, I stopped along the road overlooking the Grand Canyon (just a few miles south of Lake Powell and the Glen Canyon Dam) and shot several shots which I stitched together for this panorama.

Later that day, as I was heading down the mountains from Flagstaff, and as the sun was starting to approach the horizon, I looked over and saw these hazy hills. While still driving along I-17 at 80 mph, I grabbed my camera, turned it on, popped off the lens cap, and snapped this out the passenger side window (without even looking, I might add).

Alta HDR

Loving the look of HDR photos (inspired by the work of Trey Ratcliff / Stuck in Customs), I decided to go through a lot of my old pictures to see what I could create. This series is from several photos I took of Devil’s Castle a couple years ago at Alta Ski Resort. The second photo was a long exposure of the mountain, during which a scout troop hiked down shining their flashlights.
